The WORD
Will Judge Them
John 12:44-50
Jesus cried and said, He that believeth on me, believeth not on me, but on him that sent
me. And he that seeth me seeth him that sent me.

I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in
darkness. And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not
to judge the world, but to save the world. He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words,
hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the
last day.

For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a
commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak. And I know that his
commandment is life everlasting: whatsoever I speak therefore, even as the Father said
unto me, so I speak.  (KJV)
To Believe on Jesus is to Believe in God

Beginning in the garden, the Lord God revealed His plan for the salvation of mankind (Genesis
3.15). That plan, which was conceived before the foundation of the world (Ephesians 1.4-12),
was proclaimed by Moses and the Prophets (Luke 24.44-48). To believe in Jesus was to
believe in God. It was to believe the plan He conceived and revealed from the beginning.

(John 14:1-7) Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my
Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a
place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto
myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. And whither I go ye know, and the way ye
know. Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know
the way? Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the
Father, but by me. If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from
henceforth ye know him, and have seen him.  (KJV)

If Any Man Hear My Words

There is no excuse to hear the words of Jesus, and believe not. Who is there that would stand
in front of Jesus face to face, and call Him a liar? Yet, those who will not believe His words, will
not accept His works, and will not benefit from His mercy and grace. Belief encompasses
obedience.

(Deuteronomy 18:18-19) I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto
thee, and will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall
command him. And it shall come to pass, that whosoever will not hearken unto my words
which he shall speak in my name, I will require it of him.  (KJV)

(John 8:47) He that is of God heareth God's words: ye therefore hear them not, because ye
are not of God.  (KJV)

(Deuteronomy 12:28) Observe and hear all these words which I command thee, that it may go
well with thee, and with thy children after thee for ever, when thou doest that which is good
and right in the sight of the LORD thy God.  (KJV)

The Word Shall Judge Him

Whenever something is measured, there must be a standard. To measure length, we use a
rule. When we play a game, every move is compared to the rules of the game. When we stand
before God, we will be judged by the words of Jesus.

(Ecclesiastes 12:13-14) Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep
his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. For God shall bring every work into
judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.  (KJV)

(Acts 17:30-31) And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men
every where to repent: Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world
in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto
all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead.  (KJV)

(Acts 10:42-43) And he commanded us to preach unto the people, and to testify that it is he
which was ordained of God to be the Judge of quick and dead. To him give all the prophets
witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins.
(KJV)

I Spoke Not of Myself

Every poet has his Muse. Every artist has his inspiration. The source of Jesus’ teaching – the
wisdom which lay behind it, the knowledge which produced it – came from God.

(Deuteronomy 18:18) I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee,
and will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command
him.  (KJV)

(John 8:37-38) I know that ye are Abraham's seed; but ye seek to kill me, because my word
hath no place in you. I speak that which I have seen with my Father: and ye do that which ye
have seen with your father.  (KJV)

(John 14:10-11) Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that
I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.
Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works'
sake.  (KJV)

His Commandment is Life

The effect of these words is eternal life. Some things are so important we speak of them as
matters of life and death. These words are so important they are the difference between
Heaven and Hell.

(Proverbs 6:20-24) My son, keep thy father's commandment, and forsake not the law of thy
mother: Bind them continually upon thine heart, and tie them about thy neck. When thou goest,
it shall lead thee; when thou sleepest, it shall keep thee; and when thou awakest, it shall talk
with thee. For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light; and reproofs of instruction are
the way of life: {lamp: or, candle} To keep thee from the evil woman, from the flattery of the
tongue of a strange woman.  (KJV)

(1 John 3:22-24) And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his
commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight. And this is his
commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one
another, as he gave us commandment. And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in
him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath
given us.  (KJV)
