|He Shall Never See Death
|Verily, verily, I say unto you, If a man keep my saying, he shall
never see death.
Then said the Jews unto him, Now we know that thou hast a
devil. Abraham is dead, and the prophets; and thou sayest, If a
man keep my saying, he shall never taste of death. Art thou
greater than our father Abraham, which is dead? and the
prophets are dead: whom makest thou thyself?
Jesus answered, If I honour myself, my honour is nothing: it is
my Father that honoureth me; of whom ye say, that he is your
God: Yet ye have not known him; but I know him: and if I
should say, I know him not, I shall be a liar like unto you: but I
know him, and keep his saying. Your father Abraham rejoiced
to see my day: and he saw it, and was glad.
Then said the Jews unto him, Thou art not yet fifty years old,
and hast thou seen Abraham?
Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before
Abraham was, I am.
Then took they up stones to cast at him: but Jesus hid himself,
and went out of the temple, going through the midst of them,
and so passed by. (KJV
Physical Death vs. Spiritual Death
Man was denied access to the tree of life in the garden in the beginning; but, access to that
tree will be granted in eternity.
(Revelation 22:14-19) Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right
to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city. For without are dogs, and
sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and
maketh a lie. I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I
am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star. And the Spirit and the
bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And
whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely. For I testify unto every man that heareth
the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add
unto him the plagues that are written in this book: And if any man shall take away from the
words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out
of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book. (KJV)
(1 Corinthians 15:21-28) For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of
the dead. For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive. But every man in his
own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ's at his coming. Then cometh
the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall
have put down all rule and all authority and power. For he must reign, till he hath put all
enemies under his feet. The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death. For he hath put all
things under his feet. But when he saith all things are put under him, it is manifest that he is
excepted, which did put all things under him. And when all things shall be subdued unto him,
then shall the Son also himself be subject unto him that put all things under him, that God may
be all in all. (KJV)
Is Jesus Greater Than Abraham & the Prophets?
Abraham could not give life, either physical or spiritual. The prophets could not give life, either
physical or spiritual. Jesus gives life, eternal life.
(Luke 11:29-32) And when the people were gathered thick together, he began to say, This is
an evil generation: they seek a sign; and there shall no sign be given it, but the sign of Jonas
the prophet. For as Jonas was a sign unto the Ninevites, so shall also the Son of man be to this
generation. The queen of the south shall rise up in the judgment with the men of this
generation, and condemn them: for she came from the utmost parts of the earth to hear the
wisdom of Solomon; and, behold, a greater than Solomon is here. The men of Nineve shall rise
up in the judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: for they repented at the
preaching of Jonas; and, behold, a greater than Jonas is here. (KJV)
Joh 17:3 And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus
Christ, whom thou hast sent.
(John 1:17) For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ. (KJV)
Ro 5:21 That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through
righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord.
Ro 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ
1Jo 5:20 And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that
we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This
is the true God, and eternal life.ed at the preaching of Jonas; and, behold, a greater than Jonas
is here. (KJV)
When Moses saw the burning bush, the voice of the LORD spoke to him, and introduced
Himself as the THE GREAT I AM. When Jesus said, Before Abraham was, I AM; the Jews
recognized that He was saying that He was God.
(Exodus 3:13-15) And Moses said unto God, Behold, when I come unto the children of Israel,
and shall say unto them, The God of your fathers hath sent me unto you; and they shall say to
me, What is his name? what shall I say unto them? And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I
AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you.
And God said moreover unto Moses, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, The LORD
God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, hath sent me
unto you: this is my name for ever, and this is my memorial unto all generations. (KJV)
(John 1:1-3) In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was
God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him
was not any thing made that was made. (KJV)
They took up stones
Their anger reaches a fever pitch, and takes a murderous turn. They had been seeking how to
kill him for some time, now they have arrived at the point they are willing to commit the act.
(John 5:18) Therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he not only had broken
the sabbath, but said also that God was his Father, making himself equal with God. (KJV)
