There is no more fundamental teaching in the Bible than that God created the heavens
and the earth. He made them out of nothing. He brought them into existence. It makes
no sense to say that something as complicated as the universe and life came about by
chance. The gambler who bet on those odds would be bankrupt. It is said that Sir
Isaac Newton kept a model of the solar system on his desk, and told those who did
not believe in God that it just appeared on his desk one day -- no one made it.
Without exception they would object, saying that such a model with its precision and
its artistry show that it was made. His reply, If precision and artistry show that it must
have an artist behind it, how can you say that the precision and artistry which inspired
the model does not show the need of a Creator?

"In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth." (Genesis 1:1 KJV)
